INFLUENCE OF HELLENISM ON SCIENCE, CULTURE AND EDUCATION OF CONTEMPORARY LIFE

 

The purpose of the conference: Introduction to philosophical and scientific practice a broad interpretation of the term «Hellenism» - not only as an epoch in the history of Eastern Mediterranean, which lasted from the death of Alexander the Great to final establishment of Roman rule in this territories, but primarily, as Greek culture of different periods influenced to global culture, including how to correctly use the Greek language, especially by non-Greeks, as well as study of the influence of Hellenism in this sense to various spheres of modern culture.

 

Issues to be discussed:

 

Hellenism: the concept and the developmental milestones

 

The influence of Greek political and legal thought on world politics, law and culture

 

Antique ideas and modern science

 

Impact of ideas of upbringing and education in Greek tradition to modernity

 

Byzantine tradition and modern Christianity

 

Hellenism and Contemporary Art

 

Greek language: problems of preservation and development in history and modernity

 

The main topics of the conference:

 

Investigation of the influence of antiquity to development of world culture

 

Byzantine influence on the Russian and world culture

 

Modern Greece and the world community

DEADLINES:

 

August 31, 2016:  Abstract is due (300-500 words). Abstract in Russian or Greek should have translated into English.

 

October 5, 2016: Full Paper is due (3000 words)
